Pairing a Garmin Forerunner 305 with DuoTrap

I just purchased a new bike, Trek Madone 4.5 and it has the Cadence/Wheel sensor built in called a DuoTrap. My other bike had the GSC-10 and that had a button you push to pair.

On the DuoTrap there is no such button. When I search on Garmin they have a page of supported devices which the 305 is but the link takes you to the page that outlines how to pair with the GSC-10.

I have tried the some simple steps from the Garmin page for the GSC-10. Went into the accessories page on the 305 selected Cadence sensor and rescan. Then I pedal and I see a red light on the DuoTrap it goes out in about 15 seconds of pedaling. The sensor never comes active on the 305. I even went as far to reset the 305 and was able to re-pair my heart rate monitor but still cannot pair with the DuoTrap.

Does anyone have any detailed information on how to do this?

Thanks.....

One thing you can try is to pull the battery from the DuoTrap; wait about a minute; then put the 305 into rescan mode, reinstall the battery on the DuoTrap, and sweep one of the magnets by the sensor.

Failing that - does your 305 have the latest firmware on it?

Yes I have the latest firmware on the 305. I verified that last night. The strange thing is when you select rescan the 305 just goes back to the previous screen with the slash though the cadence sensor icon. I never see any "scanning" activity going on.

    ***Update***

I was able to successfully update. I did a master reset and then it saw the Bontrager DuoTrap...doesn't make sense since I never had issue pairing with the heart rate or Garmin GSC-10....
