Hello! I have been using my Edge 800 for a couple of weeks now and very happy with it. The only pronblem i am unable to solve is with connecting the edge 800 with Garmin Connect. I am able to read the Edge itself when uploading but NOT the SD-card. Can somebody tell me what i have been doing wrong.
I have the same problem with my new Edge 810. I click "Uplaod" in Garmin Connect and "Change" to select my SD-card "EDGE810SD (K:\)". After clicking "Upload all new activities" it says "Reading activities from EDGE810SD (K:\), please wait..." but it never finishes. Same problem with all supported browsers (>IE 7 and >Firefox 3). I am on Win 7. SD-card has FAT32 format. There are only 2 new Activities under "K:\Garmin\Activities\*.fit", one File "K:\Garmin\SQL\system.db" and my map "K:\Garmin\gmapsupp.img". The "Courses", "NewFiles" and "Workouts" directories are empty. Import works only when i copy *.fit files to the device integrated memory or when i do a manual import. I installed the latest firmware update and tried new formatting SD-card - but that did not help. Are SD-cards not supported for activities, courses etc. by Garmin? Any suggestions?
I had the same issue. Over one year after this thread was started. Shouldn't be that difficult for Garmin to fix.
HERE IS THE SOUTION... but you have to use manual upload (it won't upload automatically) ... But not too difficult
Log onto garmin connect and click upload. Click Manual Upload Browse to the SD card (which will appear like an external disk drive or USB stick, G:\ or another letter) Open the Garmin folder Open the Activities folder e.g. G:\Garmin\Activities Each activity will be shown as a .fit file. Select the file for the activity (they are named with the date) and upload activities from theis file.
Hope this helps. I changed the configuration of my edge to save activities on the SD card as my old one failed after a 9hr ride in the rain on a touring holiday and consequently I lost all the date from the holiday. At least it was under guarantee and garmin very promptly sent me a replacement. Now if the device goes wrong I'll be able to plug in the SD card and upload the activities.
The common theme here is that everyone is trying to use the Garmin Communicator plugin to do the uploads (when you click the Upload button in the classic Garmin Connect, it defaults to using the GCP), and it isn't working. Doing manual uploads as suggested in the above post will work, but it seems the full solution involves uninstalling the GCP. If you want automatic uploads, you should be able to use Garmin Express.
