Dear Garmin

Please install a forum anti-spam mod. They are free and will virtually eliminate all these kitchen spam posts. The one you want hooks up with the www.stopforumspam.com spam database. Other VBulletin forums use it. I use the Invision Power Board version at my forums and get NO SPAM.

Pretty sure what you are after is here:

Thanks

Obviously Garmin are happy with all of the kitchen spamming judging by their inaction on this.
  • Not sure they really play much attention to this forum.

More spam than real posts. What joke:

  • Not sure they really play much attention to this forum

This type of spam can only be prevented by an admin. A moderator, such as myself can only delete the post and ban the poster. But these are not real humans posting these kitchen spams. It is a bot. The bot only posts once, then they are gone, whether they are banned from the forum or not. The only way to get rid of it is by installing a module such as Nigel suggested, or implementing a registration method that proves a real human is registering, such as a captcha or some sort of 2-factor authentication. I have spent way too much time deleting these kitchen spams.

Just to add, since installing the stopforumspam.com anti spam mod at my forums 41,068 spammers have been prevented from registering an account, most of these being bots like what we're seeing here. This combined with email account validation and keycaptcha means my forums get zero spam.

We are wondering how long it will be before someone who can do something, does something.

Sadly, the lack of action is very indicative of the approach we are beginning to see as normal for Garmin. I do like the products, but am starting to get a little annoyed with the lack of action.

Alternatively rename the forums "UK Kitchen Design" and we can spam the forums with posts about Garmin products :)
