Been asking around and it seems that this would be a rather simple addition to garmin connect. Or at the very least add some more Event types (ie. Rehabilitation, Training "light" medium or heavy/ hard").- H
+1 coincidence ! I was just about to finally put a request like that on here.
In my situation I use the mountainbike mostly offroad obviously, but sometimes I put on slicks and race it on the road. That activity however doesn't fit in the MTB category, but neither in (my) road racing, because that one I strictly use for my road racebike activities.
By putting MTB on road action in either 2 categories it messes up the good numbers in the periodic reports.
I very much would like to be able to make (some of) my own categories, primarily in my case MTB on road.
Like the TS I am also interested in separating real efforts and recovery rides.
I've just been searching for how to add custom event types or activity types and came across this thread. Although the thread has been up for a while, so it might not be going to happen - I'd like to see it though!
I Boundary Umpire local AFL (will make sense for those that live in Australia) and would like to be able to categorize the Activity Type as "Umpiring". It is very different running to anything else that is on the list - for those that haven't done it, try doing fartlek for 1.5 - 2 hours in 25-30 minute blocks with the following rests: 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 5 minutes and you'll get some idea!
I too would love the ability to create my own categories. Does anyone know what Garmin is using the activity types for? If they are using the data for something specific, i can understand making us choose from a set list, but the list should definitely include much more activities. If they aren't using the data for anything specific, I'm not sure why we don't already have the ability to set our own types.
I think this is a basic feature that is needed. I'm trying to decide whether to switch my training log to the garmin-connect platform from another online service. I'm close to switching, but without the ability to customize activities I don't think I will.
Sir or Ma'am,
Many of my workouts consist of what I would classify as 'calisthenics' but that is not an option on the current activity type list. I have been classifying it at 'weight lifting' but it just doesn't quite fit what my workout consisted of. Also, I like do Zumba classes or cut a rug out on the town with the girls. Is it possible to add 'dance' to the list as well?
