Course elevation profile not showing after course is created

I could see my course's elevation profile while creating it but when I go back in it now the elevation data no longer appears. The Elevation frame appears, but it's empty.

How can I see the elevation data again?

can anyone from Garmin please comment on this ?
  • This is a known bug that Garmin apparently can't be bothered to fix (like the course disappearing on Garmin 500's..)

Anyway a quick fix to show the elevation profile is to open up the course in Garmin Connect and click EDIT, and then just CANCEL. The elevation profile comes back.. However it still won't save the elevation data so you can't have it on your device.

Full workaround is to use a third party site to create the route, there are many and most work better than Garmin's! A personal favourite is RideWithGps.

    BUS_TER,

What format are you using when you export from RideWithGPS and to which Garmin ? Are you getting turn-by-turn instructions or just a breadcrumb trail?

I'm looking for the best format to use with an 810.
  • Same problem here, I can see my course's elevation profile while creating it but when I finish and save the course, the elevation data no longer appears. Also, I have a similar problem when I save as course one of my activities.

Pe. This is a recent activity with Elevation Gain: 2.659 m

Save as course… Dadaaa! Elevation graphic is blank

    Now, let's make a new course…

I click "Save" and Dadaaa! Elevation graphic is blank

Firefox, Safari and Chrome in Mac.

  • I've noticed this and if you change the course into streetmap then the elevation reappears, also hitting mile markers seems to help
  • Hi all,

Been having the same issue bt used Garmin Training Centre on the MAC (the local app) and the Elevation came across.

Sweet as I have my 1st 100K MTB ride coming up with 2000M vertical and really wanted to be able to follow the course.
