Basecamp Export function not working

I am running BaseCamp v4.1.2 in Windows 8. I organize motor rallies. I use my Oregon 550 with an automotive kit and record my tracks as I travel, I place waypoints in critical locations, eg controls, intersections, emergency exits etc. I then share my data with others who are working on the event with me. Lately (possibly since the upgrade to Windows 8), I have been unable to export my data. I recently also had a problem with the automatic updates of BaseCamp. I resolved the problem by uninstalling the program and downloading it again, but the export problem seems to persist. I highlight the data which I seek to export, and then using the file menu select export. It then does not seem to matter whether I choose to export the file or to export selection the program freezes immediately after clicking on either export file or export selection and ultimately has to be terminated by using the task manager. No dialogue box appears. I know that we have successfully exchanged information in the past and can't understand why I am no longer able to save the.GPX or.GDB files so that I can email them to my colleagues. This problem is extremely frustrating as we don't often meet and coordinate our efforts by exchanging files.
Can anyone please help?
  • I have the same problem, as have others, although I'm running Win7 and it only affects my Toshiba laptop, works perfectly on my HP desktop. 'Import' also causes a freeze.

The developers are aware of it but not sure whether anything is being done about it as it may simply be a PC rather than Garmin problem. While Export doesn't work 'Send to' and 'drag and drop' does work so you may want to try that. To share data just 'drag and drop' it onto a SD card or USB stick and then access the file from there.
