Distance Changes when going from MapSource to Google Earth

How come the overall distance, in miles, change when I compare the track log in MapSource and Google Earth? In MapSource it says 18.7 miles, in Google Earth it says 16.7 Miles. I am saving the track log as a GPX file in MapSource and opening it in Google Earth.
