Garmin Cyclops

HI all.
I'm new to the website and not sure if this post and where I can ask questions about the Cyclops option on Garmin.
I registered for the free 30 day trail and used it last night when driving home and it seems not to work.
I does not detect any speed cameras or fixed cameras or any road hazards.I can see if I connect the device to my notebook and I can see under POI it has 3 files called South AfricaCyclopssamle.gma, SouthAfricaSample.gpi and SouthAfricaCyclops.unl

If anyone can point me in the right direction I will appreciate it.
Thanks
Arno
  • Which nuvi are you using? What makes you think it should have worked on that stretch of road, are there speed or other cameras?

    Hi
    Nuvi 40
I drove on the N3 highway and on the older Nuvi it warned me of possible speeding camera's along the way. There are a few points on the N3 where that are normally cops sitting with camera's and it does not get detected on the Nuvi, or am I missing the point of the Cyclops and how it works.
  • Have a look under Settings>Proximity points and ensure Speed cameras are listed and checked.

Yes, the garmin Proximity points is selected.
Does it detect mobile camera's used by the cops as well for example under bridges where they normally sit.
  • It doesn't 'detect' anything ... it simply alerts you if it has a location in its database, so it may or may not know of any location. Best simply not to drive above the limit :)
