Nuvi 1450T reboots

I have a Garmin Nuvi 1450T that is rebooting continually.
It was working fine and suddenly went back to a Garmin screen with a green line underneath mid trip.
All attempts to start it go OK until I plug in power, either 12V or 240V when the GPS goes back to a Garmin screen with a picture of a computer. It then stays on that screen.
  • If it's doing this when you plug in your car cable then I would suspect the cable is faulty.
  • Faulty socket on your GPS? Could try a hard reset though to see if that solves it.
  • No, the symptons you're describing are normally the result of a fault in the cable somewhere making the GPS think it's connected to a PC. If you're convinced you've eliminated the cables then the only other thing I can think of is a problem with the socket on the GPS that the cable fits into.

This is the exact problem I have on my 1450. It's fine on battery only, but reboots at times with the cable plugged in. Verified same problem with separate cable while plugged to PC. Moving the device caused short and reboot.

Definitely female socket is NOT robust enough.
  • I have exactly the same problem described here with my Nuvi1450 LMT. GPS is unstable when connected to cable in car and will charge but not connect to PC so that I can download maps and geocaching information. Get a message on the PC that there is a fault in the USB connection. I also suspected the connector on the GPS.

It's small comfort to see that this is a common problem. What can be done about it?
  • What can be done about it?

Call Garmin support or post in a forum appropriate to nuvi's such as the one at this link http://forums.gpsreview.net/. This forum is for Garmin fitness products.

I don't understand your remark - this whole thread is about a specific problem with the Nuvi1450.
  • True, but as Voiceresponse states this really is the wrong place for this sort of query. Follow his advice, I'm locking this thread.
