Temporary map ownership (for holiday use)

Former Member

When going on holiday somewhere for say 2 weeks, I hardly want to spend $200+ on a map that will only be used for that short period, yet the device is almost useless without it.

My suggestion is to be able to rent maps for month long periods and then they expire.
I'm pretty sure its possible.
It works like that for things like iPlayer downloads - they work for 30 days and then delete themselves.

Thanks

Or get some free maps from OpenStreetMap. eg try this website: http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/

There are other options for OSM maps, depending on where in the world you want maps for, and what sort of maps, eg driving, cycling, walking etc.

It is certainly possible. An unlockcode can have an expiry date. I don't know whether a gma certificate supports it too, but it would be illogical if it didn't.
The map won't delete itself though.
