Tracking different shoes would be great

It would be great if it was possible to track different set of running shoes, so I'd know the mileage of different sets of shoes. It shouldn't be so difficult to add to the current setup, but it would be a great help.

I currently use an excel sheet to track this, but this is a tedious task, when it could be so easy to do via Garmin Connect.

Please add this soon.

Kind regards,
Henrik
  • Hello Henrik,

for equipment tracking i'm using Sporttracks, I'd say it complements GC pretty good - obviously you could use only ST as well, but I like the ideea of having my workouts backed up in the cloud... :-)

I was thinking the same thing we could use some shoe tracking
  • You mean something like this from the new SportTracks online site

  • I too wish garmin connect added a shoe tracker feature with an alert. Since it doesn't I've come up with a simple workaround of renaming my activies with my shoe number in the activity name, e.g. '...shoe1'. You can then analyze your activities and search by that string you included in the activity name, e.g. 'shoe1' and garmin connect will find total mileage for you. Not elegant, requires numbering your shoes (if you have more than 1), renaming each activity individually, then periodically running the report in garmin connect, but it seems better than using a separate spreadsheet or app.

    Work Around

I created a course with the name of my shoes. I select the "course" depending on which shoes I wore. It doesnt create any reports based on course but I can always export to excel and add up my miles.

It is must for all marathon runners. Will be a great help.
  • I would very much like to see equipment tracking be a part of the new Garmin Connect. I currently use a different training log site to track running shoes and which bike I was riding.
