Is it possible to follow real-time activities from members

Hello, I'm wondering if it is possible for me to see a friend real-time with garmin connect, if he is running with his garmin somewhere?
I want to be able to see in which village/city street he is busy with his activity.
As far as I can see, I can only see uploaded activities from others, is that correct?
Regards Menno
  • I don't keep up with all the Garmin products, but I've not heard of any sports/fitness product that upload 'real time' data to GC. If your friend is amicable to you knowing his location, there are smartphone apps for that.

The Garmin Edge 510 and 810 can do this. They do need to be connected to phone, which will send the tracking data to Garmin Connect.

Reading the email Garmin just sent out for the 510, it reads to me that it doesn't transmit the data to GC until you've finished your activity. So that wouldn't be "real time".

I admit I had to do a lot of guessing and extrapolating from the carefully worded salesman speak, so I may be wrong.

edit.. Okay, I am wrong, they do talk about real time updates to invited contacts. Wish they'd said that when they talked about Garmin Connect instead of putting it in another section.
