eTrex 20 message: "Too many custom map images. They will not all be displayed."

Still working the mass storage mode issue in another thread but need to address another issue.
I've installed a 16MB chip in my eTrex 20 for my maps. Used Basecamp to push to the chip successfully. When device boots I get this: Too many custom map images. They will not all be displayed.
Any suggestions?

TIA

Is there simply no way to store those maps of the region that I need on my chip and activate/enable the ones I want as required? I'd hate to think I have to push them to the chip with Basecamp every time I want to change to another panel.
  • I don't believe so. Custom maps are enabled 'by default' so you can't simply activate the ones you require, they are either all on or all off AFAIK. However I've only played with custom maps briefly so I could be wrong, maybe someone with a bit more experience with custom maps will chime in

Well, you could have a CustomMaps2 folder holding the maps you currently don't need. You then rename the folders when you need to activate the CustomMap2 folder. Either insert the uSD card in a smart phone, a tablet, or connect the GPS to a tablet...
