Edge 500 - deleting part of your recorded course ?

Hiits such an obvious error in the heat of a race, forget to stop the gps until u get home. How do you Edit - add a waypoint and delete a part of your course ? i cant believe garmin web does not explain this.
In their Help FAQ it has
Select myConnect > Courses.
Select a course.
Select View Details.
Select the pencil icon.
Select an option:
To add a point to the end of the course, select a location on the map.
To add a point within the course, select a line segment in the course. A point appears at the midpoint of the line segment.
To move a point, select and drag the point.
To remove a point, right-click the point, and select Delete point.
Select Save.

but this does not work. Pencil only has Quick / or Full Edit of the 'title' of the course.
advice appreciated.

It sounds like you are trying to edit an "activity", not a course. AFAIK its not possible to delete part of an activity on Garmin Connect.

You have to use other software to edit it, before uploading to Garmin Connect. One option is to use Garmin BaseCamp, you can download it for free. This will let you download from the Edge, then delete part of the track, then export to a GPX or TCX file. You can then upload this to Garmin Connect.

    CRAIG_WALLACE,
Thank you for the tip. I have been looking for a solution to deleting the part of my activity at the end of the activity where I forget to turn off my Edge 500 before getting in the car and driving away. I tried your suggestion, I think, but it doesn't quite work for me. When I edit the track in BaseCamp, I use the Erase feature, then save (tried both GPX and TCX formats). But when I Import a new activity in Garmin Connect using those files, I have no stats for that activity. I bring in the files and they show no distance, although the track looks correct on the map. Am I doing something wrong?
  • I think that what you want to do can be done on strava. don't know if that I the easiest way to do it, but it will keep your other data
