910XT and Edge 800 with replacement Heart Rate Monitor

Hi,

I recently lost the heart rate monitor and soft strap that originally came with my 910XT. It synced up fine and also with my Edge 800.

I bought a replacement monitor and strap but can't get either unit to recognize it. When I go into settings and in the heart rate section I select the ANT+ and search for heart rate monitor, the page reverts back to the previous page without searching. Seems strange that both units do this.

Directly beneath the "search" option, there is a option to view the monitor ID. When I select this option it shows that there is 0. Are the units still recognizing the previous monitor and somehow I have to remove that monitor from the unit memory before adding my replacement one? The replacement strap is new so the battery is hardly expired already?
  • Shouldn't be a problem and if it is happening with both devices, I'd try a new battery first. It is possible that the battery is dead. Also try putting in the battery reversed for a few seconds as that sometimes sorts things out.

Can't speak for the 800 but on the 910, are you dropping down to 'Search' then pressing enter? Just selecting 'Yes' will not rescan for a new HR monitor.

    Thanks for commenting PHILIPSHAMBROOK.

I'll try to take the battery out tonight but it's not like the previous ANT+ I had where one simply turns the battery cover a half-turn and take out the battery. The replacement has 4 screws that I'll need to undo first.

Both devices behaved the same way. When I press enter on "search" for a new HR monitor it immediately reverts to the previous page. Am I not doing it correctly?

    Thanks.
  • Are you wearing the strap with the contacts moistened?

It will revert to the previous page and may take a few seconds for it to detect the strap.

    Bingo, problem solved PHILIPSHAMBROOK.

It was a battery issue, likely sitting on the shelf for a while. Replaced the battery and re-scaned for HR Monitor and works a treat.

    Thanks for your help :)
