Oregon 450 basemap

Hello,
I'm new to the whole GPS thing. I picked an Oregon 450 up to use on hunting and fishing trips. Anyway, after opening and installing the batteries, the base map is off. It appears to be several hundred yards off while the GPS claims anywhere from 30-80. Is there anyway to correct this or am I forced to purchase a map pack? I was planning on doing this in the long run but what's the guarantee it will locate correctly? Thanks

The basemap in Garmin units is very basic. I assume by "several hundred yards off" you mean roads. That doesn't surprise me.

Yes purchased maps are better and have a lot more detail. I assume you want topo maps, Garmin has online viewers for their maps and I recommend one of the 24k map products if you're in the US. I'd also recommend buying any maps on DVD/CD rather than as a download or on a microSD card.

Should I purchase mapping for my GPS on a disc, pre-programmed datacard, or as downloadable content?
