Garmin 610 "lost" an activity

My run this morning just disapperared without downloading to Garmin Connect. It says it is uploading, but it's gone from the 610 and will not come up on activities. Is it gone? Why did it not download? How do I keep it from happening again?

I have had the same problem. This happened in December too- there was a problem with the website, supposedly corrected. Need to contact Garmin.
  • When you connect your 610 to your computer through the ant stick, the first thing that happens is that it transfers the activity fit file from the 610 to your hard drive, then it expands it to a tcx file. Then it uploads it to Garmin Connect. Even if you can't find your activity on Garmin Connect, it may be on your hard drive, and if so, you can do a manual upload from your hard drive to Garmin Connect.

To find the fit files on a Mac, look in this folder:

    <your user name>/Applications/Library/Garmin/Devices/<device ID>/Activities

To find the tcx file, it's the same path but instead of the Activities folder, look in the History folder.

Also note that the Library folder is hidden by default in Mac OS X. Do a google search to find out how to unhide it.

If you are running Windows, search this forum to find out where your files are.

    For Windows Vista, 7, and 8 - C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\Devices\<device ID>\Activities

The AppData data folder is hidden, so follow this in order to unhide it: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Show-hidden-files

I'm having this problem with a FR70. It said it was transferring, now the watch has been reset to 0 cal, however it did not upload to the website. When I go to manual upload from the site, it doesn't recognize today's activity. I checked that folder on my hard drive, and it's not there either.

The history on the watch shows the activity, so I know it's there still at least, but I can't figure out how to make it re-transfer.
