Syncing GC calendar with external calendar (iCal, Outlook, etc.)

Hi all!

I would like like to know if there is a way of syncing Garmin Connect's calendar with an external calendar like Outlook, iCal or another one.

If not, is it possible to subscribe to Garmin Connect's calendar with Outlook, iCal, etc.?

Thanks a lot in advance!

    Hi,

I've been doing a research about this topic on Google, but found nothing. Does any of you know anything about it (syncing GC's calendar with iCal or Outlook or subscribing to GC's calendar via Outlook or iCal)?

    Thanks again!

    Hi all,

My post hasn't reach many of you! ; )

However, here's another way around the question: is it possible to export the activites from GC to a calendar like Outlook or iCal? So, instead of exporting all GC's calendar, is it possible to get in Outlookr or iCal the activities' from GC?

    Thanks again!

  • I also want a feature like that. It's very annoying trying to put an entire program using the manual feature.

There is a Feature Requests forum for GC here: https://forums.garmin.com/forumdisplay.php?93-Feature-Requests. In fact, there are many others who want this, too. See https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?4060-iCal-calendar-support and https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?31907-Activities-and-plan-in-own-calendar. You guys should add your support to these threads. For the record, I would love to see this feature in GC and will be following my own advice.
  • Ladies and gentlemen, Garmin has heard our pleas for calendar export functionality: http://connect.garmin.com/help/whatsnew. As of this morning, one can export the next 30 days of workouts into an external calendar (e.g. Outlook, Google Calendar, etc.) I tried it and it works. Thanks for listening, Garmin.
  • But how do you do it? I've found the link and would like to import to Google - care to explain how?
  • Same question.
I have already imported calendar in Google (eg TripIt!) but the URL given by GC does not have the same format and it does not work.
I did not have much time to investigate but would be happy to get the answer !

Here is what I did. I went to my calendar in GC (http://connect.garmin.com/calendar) and clicked on the button link in the top right corner and selected Publish Calendar. In the dialog box that popped up, I right-clicked on the highlighted URL and clicked Copy to copy it. I then opened a new tab and pasted the URL in the address bar. When I hit return, I was prompted to Open or Save the file. I saved it to my desktop; any location you're going to remember is good.

With the file saved, I opened my Google Calendar, clicked the down arrow next to My Calendars (left side of page, half way down), and clicked Settings. On the Settings page, there is a link entitled Import Calendar. I clicked that and in the dialog box that popped up I hit the Choose File button and navigated to the saved .ics file, and selected the destination calendar (if you have more than one). Once I hit the import button, I had the entries in Google Calendar after a few seconds.

Just about every calendar I've seen has an import function. You may need to fish around to find it. I just tried it in Outlook 2010 (File | Open | Import) and it worked flawlessly.
  • Fine but an import is not a sync neither a publication... and this is what we've been asking for years...
