Error message when disconnecting new etrex 30 from PC - why?

I've got a new etrex 30 and every time I disconnect from my pc I receive a message telling me there was an error when disconnecting - why is this and what do I need to do?
  • Are you using Windows or a Mac. On Windows you need to use the Safe Eject icon, not sure about a Mac.
  • On the Mac it's even more important to disconnect properly. You can do that by dragging the device icon to the Trash.

Which program is issuing this error message? BaseCamp? If so, shut down BaseCamp first before disconnecting, or use the disconnect option from within BaseCamp (at least the Mac version has that option, not sure about the Windows version)
  • Exactly what does the error message say ... and exactly when do you get it?

You need to insert a micro SD card into the GPS and the error message will go away
  • Interesting idea but not sure why that might be the case? IIRC my Etrex 20 didn't give me that error message when new and before it had a card inserted.

All, I am now experiencing this very same issue with my Etrex 20. THis is my 3rd Garmin all of which I've been able to download tracks to Basecamp. I'm quite cautious when ejecting as I've always read and have been told this by several users with using a Mac. Now, when I go to download a track, it will give me a pop up stating I've not properly ejected and next time I try to connect that Apple will try to fix. Well, I've gone through numerous attempts with same results shortly after I plug the device in using Basecamp. How do I clear or fix the supposed faulty ejection? Thx for any advice!
