There was an internal error while searching for activities

I have not been able to access any of my historical activities since the great Garmin Connect Christmas outage. I can log in, but get a meesage that 'There was an internal error while searching for activities' when I click Analyze/Activities. The reports function is working and will show my absolute and yearly totals. I can upload activities, which show in my dashboard. I have done CTRL + F5 and have manually cleared the cache (using Windows 7 and Firefox 17.01). My boy has logged in to his Garmin Connect account using my computer and can call up his activities without any problems. I have submitted a tech help ticket, but doubt I will hear anything back for ages. Anyone got any ideas?

The overwhelming silence is making me think that Garmin are ignoring me because they have deleted over two years worth of my activity data.....

Try search filters to narrow down the problem.

I see a similar problem. By using the search filters (click on 'show filters'), I found that I could list all my swimming activities, and all my road bike activities. I could only list mountain biking activities over certain dates - if I allowed the filter to search anything on or before 30th December 2012 then I got the 'internal error' message.

Until this morning, I also had a problem getting to my 'Dashboard' page - I would get a message about the site being down for maintenance. I did a password change this morning, as I intended to share my login credentials to an assistant to help diagnose the problem. Changing password seemed to magically solve my dashboard problem, but not the internal error when trying to list previous activities.

The Garmin techies appear to have sorted my issue. I took a while to stir them into action - I logged a fault online, sent several emails to [email protected] and posted lots of comments on their facebook page. I have thanked them with a post on FB, but it would seem that this is not an isolated problem.

I'm having the same issue. I cannot see my activities unless I filter them and even then I only see some of the dates. The file I uploaded today would not open in activities.

Any idea what the solution was? I've been fighting this for awhile.
  • I'm having the exact same problem. Emails back and forth between support and myself. I stressed that it was an *internal* error but was asked to try on another browser :-( Hopefully it won't take too many more emails (4 so far, and screenshots) until they actually get onto it.

We've been complaining about this in this thread for several weeks now as well.

I put a bug report to support and got this back on 16th January; I have heard nothing further since:

Thank you for contacting Garmin International.

I went ahead and have added you and your suggestion to this case and you will be notified when this issue is resolved. As of now there is no estimated time when this issue will be resolved, however we are working as fast as possible to have this issue resolved, I appreciate your patience.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

    With Best Regards,

My request was simply to be able to include spaces within the search string which would help a lot searching routes/places here in Hong Kong, but that's minor compared to the overall complete failure of the search capability!
