Changing Routes in nuvi 3590

I searched in the Garmin Website, not this forum, and found a page that addresses this item.
I was able to get it to calculate a route from Home to My selected destination, and following the
directions from Garmin, I used the map to place a 3rd location on the route which I would prefer to travel.
So now it shows 3 locations in a list. Trouble is that the route now goes directly to the initial
destination, then turns around to go to the route I wanted to take. Instructions say if I want to revise the order, drag and drop.
It won't do that. If I grab location 3, and try to insert it after Home (1), the whole list moves up.
What am I doing wrong?

I don't have a 3590 but is your "3rd location" on a major highway or interstate. If so you may have put it on the wrong side of the road. That would cause the unit to make one or more loops.

After rereading your post I guess this doesn't apply. And I haven't started drinking yet :D

On my 1490T route points have + and - "buttons" and that's what you use to move them up/down.

Thinking back, I probably did touch the "wrong" side of the route. Easy to do. No + or - buttons, just numbers 1,2 3 in circles.
I have done this type of route modifications before on earlier Garmins and DeLorme. They didn't have the touch screen though.

I think I figured it out. When looking at the 3 locations I hit the symbol that looks like "=" with a third line on top. This brings up a screen with
"Edit Destinations" If I hit that I get the 3 destinations with symbols to their right looking like "=" with a little up arrow on top.
Click that up symbol and it moves the added destination up. Looks good now.

It would be a lot easier if the owners manual could have told me that.
