Just got this sat nav and dont know how to charge it. Keeps saying 'Battery is low"!

1 How do i charge it, and;
2 is there a mains charger available?
  • It came with two leads, or should have!

    One to enable you to plug it into your cars 12v socket, the other to connect to a USB port on your PC, both will charge it.

    Should you wish you can also buy mains chargers, or indeed plugs that include a USB outlet to enable you to use the supplied USB cable.

    You might find it helpful to download and read the manual:

    When you plug a nuvi into a computer the assumption is that you want to transfer data to/from it so no charging information is shown. That said it does charge (I've done it on occasion).

    BTW you can use any USB power adapter (from AC power or car cigarette lighter) to charge nuvi's. That said some (and you can't tell just by looking at them) will cause the nuvi to think that's it's plugged into a computer.

    What I do is to use a (genuine) Garmin power cable for my nuvi with a AC power-cigarette lighter adapter. Works great.

    Unplug it and look at the battery icon.

    I edited my original reply so reread that.
  • As Stuart says there is no indication of battery charge. I generally (should I need to charge it at home) leave it for a couple of hours, that seems to fully charge it and will do no harm.
  • If you're using it in the car just keep it plugged in .. that's what most folks do.
  • If you have the screen brightness turned up, 2.5 hours is typical
