I've read literature and reviews online about this GPS device, but everything just seems to come up short on explaining what it is REALLY capable of doing. I would be using it mostly for ATV riding in Texas. It appears that $300 gets you the device, and now I have have to spend another $60-100 to buy a set of maps that I can use to trail ride with, which would be limited to Texas. I ride in Sam Houston National Forest as often as I can. Can anyone comment on these trails specifically?
I have never had one of these, I usually just grab the paper map at whatever park I'm at and seem to find my way. Do I really need this device or is the paper map suffecient for places such as the National Forests? What more would I be getting with this device? I could care less about things like barometric pressure and elevation. The compass is useful, but compasses are cheap. For this price, I would expect turn by turn navigation in the middle of the woods, if I buy the maps for Texas, will I get that?
Someone talk me into it, because at this point, I'm thinking about returning it unless someone can tell me it saved their life once, especially since I hear NOTHING good about Garmin customer service. I hate that.
