I am getting the cant unlock maps error on my oregon, I googled the error and one result is a list of steps to replace your map list on the unit except neither of the above required items exist. I cannot find the map file itself on the unit either to simply delete it off.
There isn't a .system folder on the Oregon. On the assumption you're talking about Garmin's City Navigator maps see here for Garmin's FAQ on replacing the missing .unl file, which should work for your Oregon also:
