Can't Upload Activities to Garmin Connect (Fenix)

Hey everyone, I'm new to Garmin, but not new to GPS and mapping my tracks. I bought the Fenix with the hope of running, hiking, geocaching and biking :D. I was using mapmyfitness on my iPhone to map my routes, but thought the garmin would be a nice change (and last longer). My problem is that after recording a route, and of course saving it, I plug my fenix into my macbook and log in to garmin connect only to not have anything to upload . When I click upload and upload all activities it says there are none found. It finds the device and I'm pretty sure I have downloaded everything I need to. All my tracks appear in BaseCamp on my mac and iPhone. Why cant I get it to appear in Garmin Connect? Any advice, tips or tricks you have would be appreciated. Thanks.

You have the Communicator Plugin installed, right (http://garmin.com/macosx)? I just tried Garmin Connect on my Mac Pro (the Fenix is plugged in to do the 3.0 update), and it both sees the Fenix and can read the activities on it. This is with Communicator Plugin 4.0.3.

Anyway, years of using Garmin Connect and Motionbased with an Edge 705, an Edge 800, and now the Fenix has taught me that the most efficient way to add files to Garmin Connect is through manual uploads. The Fenix should show up on your Desktop as the disk "GARMIN". Simply choose manual upload, navigate to Garmin/Activity (or Garmin/GPX if you have FIT turned off), and upload the files you want. The plugin takes a long time to figure out what's new, but you know what's new already.

Thanks for the advice. I am able to manually upload my workouts but what a pain. Wish I could just start the GPS and Stop it when I am done running and upload it to Garmin no problem. Its the reason I bought the watch. The ONLY thing keeping me from selling it right now is that when I do a mud run I cant exactly bring my iPhone. Might have to sell it and get a forerunner and hope thats better. I dont need all the functions the Fenix has anyway, just thought it would be fun. Wonder when Garmin will get things going with Garmin Connect and Basecamp!

I have a forerunner and it does exactly the same thing that you described.

I've been having the same issue with the 60CSx. Thought the problem with "Upload All new" was limited to my device, but I guess not.

Please report your problem to Customer Support. If enough of us complain maybe they'll fix it.

I have a new fenix 1 but have a lot of trouble connecting with Garmin Communicator. I have yet to get it to detect my device. I have to agree with LIMTNBKR with his assessment. I upgraded from a Forerunner 301 but this thing is much less reliable. Although I hike as well as run, I mostly use this as a running watch and may change this out to one of the newer Forerunners.
  • If you are using Garmin Express, then Garmin Communicator won't ever find your device, and you shouldn't need that software anyway. Garmin Express is supposed to be able to do all of the automatic uploads for you.
