Garmin 76Cx power cord question

Former Member

EDIT: whoops, I'm obviously in the wrong forum. Anybody know of a forum where 76Cx's are discussed?

When on battery power, the back light for my screen remains on but for a few seconds, presumably to conserve the battery.

I use this device on my boat, and it is normally mounted on my console. Hitting 'any button' to turn it back on during night navigation is inconvenient, and often a bit distracting.

Were I to obtain a power cord and connect it to a 12VDC source, is the 76Cx designed such that the light would remain on, or would it continue to require an occasional poke.

While guesses -- including mine -- are welcome, I'd really like to hear from someone who knows, and TIA!
