Start/End New Track!

I am very new to these GPS' and I recently bought a GPSMAP 62st as I am starting to go hiking. I was wondering when starting if I am tracking correctly.

Menu>Menu>Track Manager>Clear Current Track

Then I would walk my hike

Then when I reach my end, I would go to Save Track>

Then do I clear the current track? or no?
  • It depends on whether or not you want to constantly see where you've been. All that will happen if you don't clear the current track, is eventually the allotted memory for tracks will fill up and the oldest data will be overwritten.

If you constantly go over the same path or area, the tracks may clutter your screen if you are displaying them. At that point you can decide to clear the current track or just don't show tracks if your unit has that option.

Just like using a PC, you have to just try different things and see how it works for the stuff you do. You won't break anything.
