Garmin Nuvi Custom POI limits

Hi There,

I've just created some custom POI files which I have loaded to my Garmin Nuvi. Each file has anywhere from 300 POI up to 6000 POI. When I view the POI files on the Garmin, it only shows 50 entries from each file. Is there a limit to the number of records for POI files? Does the Garmin only show the closest 50 records?

Is anyone able to tell me what happening?

The limit is a couple of million... but your device won't show more than 50 items in the list (sorted in order of distance to your current location). You can use the search option to get the entries further away.

Are you talking about favourites or POIs, since you talk about going 'back into favourites and editing them', which you can't do with POIs? If POIs how are you loading them into your 850?

Favorites can be copied from one nuvi to another, in fact Garmin's recently released Express program includes a function to do just that.

Smog won't affect your GPS signal, but seems like your nuvi may benefit from a hard reset as that often cures the sorts of issues you're having.
