310XT Does not connect to ANT (MacBook Pro)

My 310XT device will not sync with my MacBook Pro running OSX Lion 10.7.5 via the ANT Agent. I haven't been able to get a sync to occur since September 23. The sync process begins by recognizing the ANT stick through the ANT Agent as usual. Shortly after the data transfer begins and the status bar shows progress of about 7%, the process stops and tells me that it has failed to connect. I have tried every imaginable solution found on this site and others- including deleting workouts, however the unit says that I have only used 28% of available memory. I have updated the software on the laptop through the typical itunes/Apple push. There are about 50 workouts stored with dates of 10-11-12 or 10-13-12 most occurring around 12:54:10 PM.

software version on device is 4.50, GPS: 2.10

Any ideas or suggestions that does not include erasing all my data?

    Has anyone else experienced this? I was hoping there was an update or specific procedure to bypass this error. I have had this unit for years and never had an issue like this. I am trying to avoid erasing data.

    This morning I went through all history on the device and found an 18 hour mystery workout from 2007. I deleted it hoping that was the issue, but the download is still not completing although the transfer made it past 7% to 34% before failing.

    I deleted a few suspicious looking activities and the download took.
