    Same Issue

I have the same problem as you do. I using 2555LMT with lifetime map update. I update North America NT 2012.30. It went fine and at the end of the installation, it says something like map unable to install properly and you need to contact Garmin. I experienced this same issues for many time.

This ended up with my system map showing my map as version 2013.30. However, whenever I do a web updating, it will start installing 2013.30 for me. I believe it is not installed properly and finally, I deleted it from .system.

After my recent firmware upgrade, everytime I navigate on road or do a GPS Simulator, it will auto shutdown every 10 to 15 minutes. I don't know what is happening.

I sent 3 emails to Garmin, but no one responded.

I was shocked at the length of time the initial download took.

I wish my high-speed internet connection would allow me to download 2-3GB (Gigabytes) of data in a few seconds. That would be sweet :) Unfortunately I too have to wait 2-2.5 hours.
  • Well you can setup and use your GPS the same day you get it, no need to update the maps unless you want to.

Afraid it won't be any quicker next time either ... in fact as map files are generally getting larger it'll take longer. I try to do mine overnight, so it's all ready to go the following morning :)
  • The future updates should be reasonable..... and I don't expect them to take longer than any other computer updates.

Updates aren't incremental, so every time you update the map, you will have to download the same amount of data (or more, as maps tend to grow bigger every time).
