speed limit and warning

I have a GARMIN 2595.

The speed limit icon does not always appear even on roads where it does sometimes.

The audible warning for the speed limit is neat and useful, but does not seem to work now (it did). I have it set to continuous but then it only beeped when you execeeded the limit and not continuously as it suggests.

Why is it not reliable?

  • You can't on the 14xx series, just keep your eye on your speedometer :)
  • Don't believe so, 1490 is now discontinued so I can't see Garmin adding functionality. Note that you do get a visual warning, just not an audible one.

I suspect though that your 'cheapo GPS' didn't have many of the functions that your 1490 has, win some, lose some :)

Note you do get both a visual and audible warning if you exceed the speed limit in a speed camera zone, provided you have the speed camera files installed.
