PR's

Hi,

I recently ran a marathon with a personal record; however since the distance I actually ran was further then 26.2 miles Garmin Connect does not recognize this as a marathon PR, but recognizes it as a PR for the furthest distance ran. Is there now, or will there be any way to get Connect to recognize this as a marathon PR?

There are a couple of ways to manually select an activity for your PR. The easiest is when you have the activity open there are 5 little 'buttons' on the left end of the bar below the activity description and the summary details / map panels. You should see the edit button (pencil), delete (red cross), privacy (padlock) and favourite (star). The last button is the assign PR button. Click on that and it should open up a drop down list of the various distances, select half-marathon then assign PR.

Alternatively, you can go to the activities screen and find the right activity then select the check box on the left. The Assign PR option will then become available and you can choose the right distance for the PR you want to set.

Thanks! I was running in Chicago and the Garmin kept losing reception in the buildings. The thing ended up showing me running through buildings, zig-zaggin, and backtracking because of the signal loss...this ended up showing me running 27 miles

    Same issue here...

I ran the Cardiff Half yesterday and my Garmin 410 couldn't find a signal for the first 5 minutes and then decided to connect a straight line from the last known point (when I switched it on to test it whilst on my in on the M4) adding an extra 2 miles to my Half Marathon.

Stranger still, it only started recording my time from the start line so my first couple of miles were showing as 2 minute miles
This messed up my ability to monitor my average pace completely...
I was very annoyed as this was the first time I've had issues with my watch and it just happened to be on my VERY FIRST big race :(

Luckily I was chipped and my brother had his Nike watch which had no problems, but it meant having to run at his (very slightly) slower pace.... but hay-ho

Did you think of actually "lapping"? I might be wrong but, wouldn't pressing the "lap" button have kind of resolved the situation? The total distance and average pace for the entire run would still have been wrong but, the average pace for that "second" lap would've been accurate and you could have run your own race.
