Garmin Rino 650 Shutting Down

When going into "Where To" and then "Tracks" when choosing a "Track" the unit shuts itself down.

I have two units and both have the same fault.

The two units I have at the moment are replacements for units that had the exact same fault.

The original Rinos where replaced at less than a month old.

The two replacements are less than a week old.

I have performed a HARD RESET and deleted all of my tracks and waypoints from each unit.

When going into "Manage Tracks" then "Show On Map" the units also shut down.

I have the same exact issue with my Rino 650. I contacted Garmin by phone and email, and in both cases they stated they were aware of the problem and that it would be corrected in a future software update. Here is the exact response they provided via email on 9/24/12:

"I would be glad to assist you with this. We have been able to duplicate this issue and are working on a fix. This will be corrected with the new software version. Please keep checking WebUpdater for the update to become available.
If you have further information or concerns, please advise."

The person I spoke with on the phone said the software update would be available in a few weeks. It's been almost 4 weeks now, and i still haven't seen any available software update when I hook up with the WebUpdater application.

Sounds wrong Joe but I'm glad to hear someone else is having the same problem.

My two units came back from Garmin Australasia yesterday with a note saying a software update had been applied and the problem was fixed.

I'm pleased to say it is just that but, the lack of communication from Garmin and the hours I spent on hold still leaves a extremely bad taste in my mouth!

You may need to contact them again about the fix Joe, maybe it's not available via the normal channels.

That's good news that you've confirmed the fix. I may try the WebUpdater today and see if the new software is available. If not, I may see if I can get back in touch with them.

I think I just got lucky that I got ahold of someone who knew about the issue when I contacted them.

Just check WebUpdater and the software update was available. Upgraded from version 3.00 to 3.20. So far, the issue seems to be fixed!
