Hi, First post for me. Have had my device for 2 weeks now and really liked it until yesterday. It ran out of charge (my fault) so i charged it up and carried on as normal this morning, but now the distance and speed recordings are not accurate. Over my 15 mile commute to work it is now 2 miles out, and the speed constantly changes from 20mph to 10mph and sometimes zero, all other functions seem to be working ok. Any advice greatly appreciated.
Try a firmware update first using the web updater, if u all ready run the latest firmware, try a master reset.
To perform the master reset:
All settings, activities, and satellite data may be erased when resetting the GPS
1. Power device off 2. Press and hold Page/Menu, Start/Stop and Power simultaneously 3. Release buttons when the word "Garmin" disappears
After the Edge 500 is reset, it will walk through the initial setup. After completing this, leave the device outside with a clear view of the sky for approximately 15 minutes to acquire satellite data.
Your welcome, let me know if it solved your issue. Keep in mined that the less satellite connections u have, the more fluctuations u have in the speed data (actually in all data). If it still happens on the same route, check how many satellites u receive. On the Edge 500 u can find it by press and hold the Menu, and select GPS > Satallite.
