Feature Request: Swimming Workout Plans

With the release of the Garmin Swim and the Garmin 910XT, I think it would be amazing to update the workouts so that we can plan workouts and send them to the watch the same way as cycling or running workout plans.

I think this could be accomplished by adding in two additional drop downs to the workout plan menu (Open Water Swimming, and Lap Swimming). These drop downs would be available as a different workout plan type. This would allow you to save a workout plan for each type of activity that the 910XT can keep track of.

Open Water Swimming would include the same options that are already available (time, distance, calories, etc...).

Lap Swimming would include the following items:
  • Distance should be changed from Miles/Kilometers to Yards/Meters.
  • Stroke types could be added as a choice when planning the workout. (Freestyle, Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke, IM, Drill).
  • Drill mode could be added to the 910XT to match the features of the Swim. The only change would be to add more granular choices for each device. Instead of Drill show different types of drills (Kick Drill, Pull Drill, or manually rename the Drill after uploading to GC).
  • When setting up an interval in the workout plan, the watch should display the next planned interval while resting.
  • When planning a workout, allow notifications to be configured for individual sets (available choices - notify: yes/no, and notify on last: lap/length). This would be useful to disable notifications for shorter sections like sprint drills, but allow reminders for longer sets (200,400,500, etc...).


Example of watch display during a workout plan:
  • Select desired workout plan on the watch which would then display the first set to be completed (400 yd warmup).
  • click start.
  • 400 yd Warmup - watch beeps and vibrates at the completion of 350 yards notifying the swimmer that this is the last lap. (if available for the device and configured in the plan).
  • Rest Period - 1:00 countdown rest on one line, and the upcoming 100 IM set on the second line. (press pause if more rest is needed).
  • Complete Planned 100 IM.
  • Rest Period - 2:00 countdown rest on one line, and the upcoming 5x100 Free set on the second line.
  • repeat 5x - 100 Freestyle with :30 rest.
  • Rest Periods during the set would show 4x100 yd Free, 3x100 yd Free, etc...until the last rest period where it would show the next 2x50 Fly set.
  • Complete Planned 2x50 Fly.
  • repeat as needed for the duration of the workout.
