Nuvi 2555 LTM First Map Doenload Hung Up

Just purchased nuvi 2555 LTM. First map update hung up for 12+ hours (overnight). When trying to cancel, get a message that device may be permanently unusable if cancelled. HELP!
Having same issue with initial update of nuvi 2555. Map Updater window says 'Please wait; this may take a few minutes' but it's been several hours now. It would be comforting to see a progress bar rather than the twirling circle. Can Garmin please advise on how long this should take. Thanks.
