Hrrrm... iPhone garmin app reading doesn't agree with my 405!

Hello

Wonder if anyone can help. Went out for a run today and decided to set my iPhone Garmin app up against my 405 to see which is most accurate, as I've done a few runs now that seemed to get variable readings between the two. Unsurprising, since they're very different devices, but does anyone know which is likely to be the more accurate?? I'm guessing the 405 since it's designed specifically for that purpose?

Iphone run:
4.79 miles
7.36 minutes per mile

405 run:
4.40 miles
8.16 minutes per mile

Not expecting either device to be pin-point accurate, but it does seem quite a big difference!

Thanks

  • Hi CW,

It's quite Clear wat happened there, I think the iPhone didn't had a solid GPS connection, did u zoom in on the beginning of the track? Both start and end of the run the iPhone GPS starts to loose the signal a view times, starting from Middleshade Road. From the start of your iPhone track it looks like I talked to all your neighbours before starting your run :D (switch to satellite image).

Wher did u wear your iPhone during the run?
