USB Device not recognised with Forerunner 110

I've been have increasing problems getting my laptop to recognise the USB, normally it takes at least 2 or 3 attempts of reconnecting for it to be recognised. Now I can't connect at all..is there anything I can do, I'm totally unable to upload my runs????
  • I've had problems with my 210, and since the 110 is physically identical to the 110, then these tips might help:

    1) Clean off the contacts on the charging clip. There are weak springs on the contact, and if they get gunked up they won't make good contact. As long as you're at it, you may as well clean off the contacts on the back of the watch.
    2) Put the clip on the watch first, and get it seated firmly. Then plug the cable into the computer. I have a pretty good success rate if I do things in this order.

I had the same issue using Chrome. I switched to Internet Explorer, and it worked fine.
  • I cleaned the contact points ( seems too easy !!!) and it seems to work ok now, cheers and good luck, fingers crossed it continues to work.

After numerous calls to Garmin and trying all of their solutions, I ordered a new chord and now all is well. Even if the watch charges the chord can still be bad. Two of the prongs are for charging the battery and the other two are for uploading data.
  • Be sure to clean all contacts before trying anything else. I just spent an hour or so trying to re-install USB drivers and other BS, nothing working. Decided to clean contacts after reading these posts and bingo, instant syncing!

If the problem persists: try this tool to erase all of Windows' previously logged USB-connections.
Disconnect your Garmin device, run the tool (be sure to check 'do real clean') and reconnect your device again.
    Worked for me

Hi. Thank you so much. I had this problem for a while and it just wouldnt work. Just cleaned the contacts and it connected immediately! I thought it couldnt be that because it is actually charging but didnt realise that two of the contacts were for data and two for charging! Thanks again!
