Elevation Corrections Issue

Lately the altimeter on my Edge 705 has been intermittently malfunctioning. When I upload the file to Garmin Connect and select the "Enable Elevation Corrections" button sometimes it will fix it and sometimes not. I did a ride this weekend and the elevation is all wrong, flat lines, cliffs, ect... Is there a way to force the "Elevation Corrections"? I really want to see the correct data on this activity.
