I've seen inconsistency with having the ability to share runs/rides. My setting is to share when I want, and not make all of my runs/rides totally accessible.
You'll need to select the "Activity Privacy" icon to change the activity to an icon of an unlocked lock. Otherwise, you won't be able to share that activity. Can you give some more detail as to the specific issue you are having?
