course problems - edge 500

I've recently bought a Garmin Edge 500, and I am totally happy with it, but I'm having the following issues when trying to follow courses that I had previously downloaded from Garmin Connect:

1- No profile map. Every time I plan a course I can clearly see the profile of it when I'm working on Garmin Connect, but the edge displays only a straight line, as if there were absolutely no elevations or depressions, but that was after updating firmware. Before that, I could only see some crazy stuff on the profile map, which could be anything but a real profile map...

2- The course map simply disappears sometimes for a few moments, then it reappears again... (I was always on the course as it happend)

3- I can't see that "instructions" page when I'm navigating with it. Is this a configuration issue?

Thanks for the cooperation.

    Hi There,

Did you get a response to this?

I've reported similar problems to Garmin via their support portal but I've not heard back from them yet.

The biggest issue by far is the problem where the course/route disappears from the display leaving only your progress indicator (arrow) and the compass. I specifically got this computer for navigating/exploring new routes, so this problem is significant for me : (

    Any response from Garmin?

GUILHERME-GC; there are loads of posts on the Cycling, Edge 500 part of the forum, but in short...

The disappearing course issue has been known by Garmin since firmware 2.60 was released in december 2010, courses that displayed ok using firmware 2.40 will not display reliably using subsequent firmware. to date Garmin has refused to fix this.

The Edge 500 will not display elevation from a course created with Garmin's own course creator, the reason...Garmin has not bothered to fix this also.
