Ability to duplicate steps when they are not repetitive sequential intervals

For example:
step 1: 15' of regenerative run
Step 2: 7 km at a pace interval of 5':40" to 5':20"
Step 3: 15' of regenerative run

Step 1 and 3 cannot be created w/ 'Add Repeat' button because they are not continuous but they are exactly the same step.
See the attached workout printscreen example as reference
  • As a user, I should be able to copy/duplicate a single step during a workout creation to facilitate the process because the repeat feature is not quite rapid/efficient to use.

    Acceptance criteria:
    - Copy icon should be displayed beside the "x" used to delete a single step
    - All step configurations should be copied to the new copied step
    - Copied step should be add right under the initial step
  • As a user, I should be able to copy/duplicate a single step during a workout creation to facilitate the process because the repeat feature is not quite rapid/efficient to use.
I don't think that explains why you should be able to do it. You seem to be implying that a feature should be rapid/efficient to use as assessed by you, but that position is not supported by any objective argument you're offering.
  • The actual "repeat" feature assumes the way people train themselves, but it does not support some basic scenarios like a interval session like this:

    40 min at pace1, including 4 intervals of 1 min at pace2.

This means that there will be the following steps:

    A- 33 min at pace1
    B- 1 min at pace2 (first interval)
    C- 1 min at pace1
    D- 1 min at pace2 (second interval)
    E- 1 min at pace1
    F- 1 min at pace2 (third interval)
    G- 1 min at pace1
    H- 1 min at pace2 (fourth interval)

As you can see, only the block B-C is repeatable, because the training does not end with a 1 min at pace1.

So each time, it forces the user to manually create another "1 min at pace1" at the end of the workout.

So you can create a workout like this

    A- 33 min at pace1
    B- 3x
    1 min at pace2
    1 min at pace1
    C- 1 min at pace2
  • Yes. That's exactly my point.
  • Then you're doing it wrong

    That's exactly my point.
Then you're doing it wrong, or at least you're the one who is eschewing the rapid/efficient way of doing it. Victorhml was suggesting that you do it like this:

instead of adding seven one-minute steps sequentially and wanting to be able to replicate some steps by copying.
  • "As you can see, only the block B-C is repeatable, because the training does not end with a 1 min at pace1.

So each time, it forces the user to manually create another "1 min at pace1" at the end of the workout"

Maybe my english is not good (I'm french), but in my example, that's exactly what I said in the beginning, block B-C is repeatable, but not the last entry that you must manually enter..again.

Looks like you are trying to convince me the copy/duplicate feature is not a useful feature.. A good chance you people are not Product Owner in a software development company :)

FYI, the pain I experience by having to manually enter the same information twice (forget the repeatable BC block, focus on the last step..) is shared by all the people I know who are using this feature. This is a sample UI UX limitation.

FYI, I had no need to create that workout (but I do have other custom workouts, and so I actually use the feature), but I did anyway just to clarify the point and take a screenshot, and believe me, there was no pain when I did it. You should check what is causing you pain as an individual, instead of assuming it cause all fellow users pain.

Sorry, but I think you're being a bit of a drama queen with that complaint.
  • Are you aware of pyramid speed intervals?
  • I'm used to create intrervals workout on Garmin Connect web and the iOS app but the fact we can't duplicate a step is really painfull.

I'm actually creating a workout of 2x 12x200m with an increasing then decresing recover time between reps, I ended up manually creating 12 exact same step for the run of 200m with the same pace target, the same distance, then manually adding 12 step changing the step type from run to rest, adding the time...

A duplicate button on each step will solve all those time wasted.

    Please implement it asap.

    Thanks
