Download content of description field

Hi,

In the description field of each run, I enter the shoe I was wearing. I do this as I run in 2/3 different pairs, and would like to have an accurate record of how many miles I have run in each.
I can search in GC to find all runs with "Glyc9" - Glycerin 9 - in description. But there is no total, and if I want to downlad the search results, I have to do it page by page...
What I would ideally like to do is download all activities over a given period, and then use EXCEL filters in order to find total miles with each pair of shoes.
Any idea how this could be done? If not, maybe Garmin developpers can make this change?

I am not sure that I understand the question correctly, because you seem to already have the answer.

Search for shoe name. Optionally and time period, possibly custom dates.
    Download results as csv.
    Open csv file in excel.
    Autosum distance column.

I think this method allows you to download about 20 results at a time. Cut and paste rows between excel files if you have more results. Keep a running (no pun intended ;)) excel spreadsheet and you only have to append it with the new runs.
