Hi all,
I have just defected from Tomtom and bought a zumo 350, it's a stupid question but I cannot find an answer, if I am out somewhere and I find a good restaurant or other poi that is not on the device, how do I add it to the device, on Tomtom you have an edit poi button and then add missing poi and you can then go through a series of naming and tel. Numbering the poi and hey presto it's on the device, I have just spent £500 on this unit and extras to fit it on my bike, and am being told you can't do this on the device which it says you can on the sales blurb "add POI's", I cannot believe a £400 device full of crap extras you'll never use cannot perform this simple and essential function please help.
  • Under Garmin you need to save it as a 'favorite' (just think of 'favorites' as TT POIs) ... see page 6 of the manual ;)

Here is the some of the info from said page 6 under Nagvigation:
    Saving Your Current Location
1 From the map, select the vehicle icon.
    2 Select Save.
3 Enter a name, and select Done.
    4 Select OK.

    Editing a Saved Location
1 Select Where To? > Saved.
2 If necessary, select a category.
    3 Select a location.
    4 Select .
    5 Select > Edit.
    6 Select an option:
    • Select Name.
    • Select Phone Number.
    • To assign categories to the Favorite, select Categories.
    • To save a photo with the Favorite, select Assign Photo
    (page*6).
    • To change the symbol used to mark the Favorite on a
    map, select Change Map Symbol.
    7 Edit the information.
    8 Select Done.
  • The vital bit is just above that, see attachment

Thanks guys you are the best, Garmin phone support said it couldn't be done, this forum is obviously the place to get top info. What do you think of this new base camp?

    P.s.

Sorry about the lateness of the reply, every time I log in it tells me I have put in the wrong username or password (although I haven't) and I have used up all my attempts and must wait 15 minutes and try again and eventually it will let me log in but as soon as I change a page it logs me out and I have to start again, so I have learnt to log in on the page I wish to post and then keep trying till I get logged in.
  • Those of us brought up on Mapsource found it a steep learning curve, now I've played with it a while I'm fairly OK with it. Main let down from my point of view is its slow search capability compared with Mapsource and the fact it won't search on UK postcodes like Mapsource will.

Consequently I often find myself searching on Mapsource, creating a waypoint and then loading that into Basecamp

That's o.k. Then I was beginning to think I was getting a bit thick in me old age, it's not a program with an easy intuitive HMI, I am reminded of the first time I came across autocad. Where unless you know what's is what you'll get nowhere fast.
