Transferring Workout from Garmin Connect to 310XT Hangs

I have created a new workout in Garmin Connect. When I click on Send to Device, it finds my 310XT but then the transfer seems to stall. The progress bar never advances. What's wrong?

  • Are you using Internet Explorer? If so, you'll need to add *.garmin.com to the list of trusted sites.
In IE go to Tools > Internet Options > Security > Trusted Sites > Sites. Uncheck "require server verification." Enter *.garmin.com, click Add, click OK. Close IE. Restart IE.
  • I'm using IE9. I had added several of the garmin sites to trusted sites but now I've added the domain you said. I restarted. I cleared cache. I powered down/powered up the 310XT. When I retried, I got the same thing. The dialog box comes up saying "Preparing Workout" but the progress bar never advances. Also, I manually created a workout on the 310's UI. The course I ran transferred automatically to Garmin Connect, but the workout on the device did not and the workout on Garmin Connect didn't transfer to the device. Is there some special setting for Workout transfers to/from device to garmin connect?

    Thank you,
    Gregg
  • Here's an update:

Someone suggested I use Garmin Training Center. I hadn't heard of it until then. It's a client-based program that you load to your C: drive and the ANT+ stick. So I did that and it allowed me to send the data to the device. Yeah! It also gave me an idea though that maybe the issue with Garmin Connect has to do with the Workout name. I then changed the Workout name thru GC and tried to resend to the device...and it worked! Seems like the name code can only be abt 8 chars long or so.

  • Hi there. It may have been me who suggested using Garmin Training Center. Here is a link to the Garmin software collection: http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=999-99999-04. It should have everything you need. If you're using the ANT+ stick, I would go with "Training Center with ANT Agent". Let us know how you make out.

I had to remove the space that I had in the name to get it to work.

I added a "Cool Down" step; then it worked.

I realize this is an old thread, but have an update. I, too, was having trouble sending my workouts to my device (Edge 800). It would send some and not others. I changed the name of my latest problem file and it immediately worked. Changed name from "Intervals 1-hr" to "Intervals 1 hour." I have other workouts with a dash in the name. Go figure.
