Garmin Connect and Facebook.

When I share a workout from Garmin Connect to Facebook, my distances in miles. I want them in kilometers. My watch are set to kilometers, my Garmin Connect account is also set to km. Before I share the workout from Garmin Connect account the distances are in kilometers, but when the link is opened on Facebook, it changed to mil. What am I doing wrong?

Facebook shares in South Africa in miles instaed of kilometers

I use Endomondo and Garmin connect simultaneous because Garmin connect can't share to facebook the stats in kilometers (metric).

I want to cancel my endomondo subscription to only use Garmin connect exclusively to track my progress, for groups and sending courses to team mates. The problem is that it is all in miles (imperial) when you try to share a link. I know there is a switch at the top of the window to switch to kilometer's but this does not work for us. My device is set to metric, and the setting on Garmin connect is also switched to metric.

I think you can have so much more people using the Garmin Connect social website if you fix this problem as soon as possible.

A great feature will be if the Garmin Connect website can share automatically the uploaded data to your choice of social network like facebook

For now I am going to use Strava because it seems that it is going to do the job with the tracking of data and sharing to social media in the correct formats.

I have tracked this issue and see that there is nothing being done about this. Why do Garmin have a Forum where customers tell you what they want and nobody from Garmin respond on the posts. A company with great hardware like the Garmin range can surely get the developers moving faster and resolve this issue before you loose more clients in country's that use metric format. Please let me know when the problem is fixed!

Same here. Watch is set to metric, Connect is set to metric, I'm in a metric country. Facebook shares are miles.

Not true, Endomondo shares in metric on Facebook

    Hello,
it can't be so complicate for Garmin to set the measuring units (metric or miles) via an option in the link, like connect.garmin.com/activity/12345678?unit=metric
So, when Garmin is an company which is working for the users (and I think metric is much more spreaded in the world as miles) then they should make it optional via link, before the users swtich to other companys...

I have tried Strava, and it works with facebook. But how can I get all my activities from connect.garmin.com to Strava? I only have the latest activities on my Garmin device...

    Greetings and happy christmas
    Stefan

    You can use http://www.copymysports.com/
It will automatically copy all of your activities from Garmin Connect to Strava.

I think that because Garmin is in the USA and the USA is non metric, they think the rest of the world should be like them. They have no intrest in updating this bug because it does not effect US users and they dont seem to care about anyone outside the USA.
It should not take I.T. gurus long to fix an issue like this "if" they thought it was an issue but it would seem that (sadly) they don't. Maybe in 100 years the USA may catch up with the world and switch to Metric but we will all be gone by then so don't hold you breath.
  • It might be because you are screaming to the wrong people. This is a USER forum. We are not garmin and cannot do anything about it. Try emailing, calling or writing Garmin support or send them a suggestion through this -> http://www8.garmin.com/contactUs/ideas/
