Garmin Connect has "LOST" MASSIVE amounts of detailed run information!!!

Very unhappy! Nearly half of my runs no longer have any detailed:

1.) GPS information
2.) HR information
3.) Elevation
4.) Speed information

Even the split summaries are gone

What went wrong????

Can this be fixed???

Update:
Big Thanks to RonHoneyman!!! Data was not corrupted, just wasn't displaying. Root cause was having a  quotation  mark in my exercise title
  • Please post if you are having the same problem - I would like to know if I am experiencing an "isolated" issue.

It will be very easy to see if you have this issue. Browse back through 6 or so workouts. If you have map information showing on all of them, you are good to go. If one to several of them are blank, do a little more investigation and please confirm that you are in my boat.

    THANKS!!

I just browsed through my records (don't have many as I only recently started tracking via GC), but all of my records are intact. That includes records uploaded via ANT Agent, uploaded manually (TCX files), and entered by hand.
  • Here is a link to the failure I am seeing: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/200860905

I am cpeter38 on Garmin Connect. A typical good file is: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/199494089

Very strange. Seems to be only 2 days, 7-17 and 7-19. Garmin Support needs to check this out.
If you install Garmin Training Center then when you unload your 910 the ANT will automatically send your tracks to both GC and GTC so you will have data in 2 places if something goes wrong.

Unless you delete the data from your computer, it will still be there. It does not matter whether you load it into GTC or not. THe files are taken off your device, stored on your computer then copied up to GC. GTC, gives you an opportunity to view the data (albeit pretty basic) locally.

Unfortunately, it is a lot more than that. Looking at July, it is:

    1, 6, 10, 12, 17 & 19

    June:

    5, 12, 19 & 21

    May:

    1, 8, 15, 22, 24 & 29

Until this month, I ran approximately 3 days a week (now I run 4x). According to my rough calculations, that is about a 40% loss ...
  • I've install Garmin Training Center - Thanks for the tip.

The Garmin Tech Support Rep has been making some pretty bad assumptions about my level of competence and data gathering habits. In two different "helpful" interactions, he has:

1.) suggested that it is my web browser that is the problem. He wouldn't take my word that I had replicated the issue on multiple computers. After I sent him multiple links, he conceded that there was a problem.

2.) His next solution? I have to stop waiting to download my data until after the watch is full, once every two weeks as a minimum. I guess it would have been too difficult to ask me what my practices are (I download after every workout or at the end of every day if there are multiple workouts)!
  • CPeter38,

Your data is safe in Garmin Connect, it is not lost. I can see the data from your activity log is still there. We will research why it is not displaying.
  • I now have proof that Garmin Connect is corrupting my data. Here are two links to this morning's run:

    Corrupted: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/202562972

    Uncorrupted:http://connect.garmin.com/activity/202584012

Updated: RonHoneyman has solved the issue. For some reason there was an interaction between the exercise title characters and the data display.

    THANKS RonHoneyman!!!!
  • Bug

Hey, I've just reported this in another post, as the user has found out by his own, the problem shows when you use the " symbol in your activity name. I was having the same problem and figured it out because after editing the activity name the problem happened, I also looked at some old activities and problem was there in all of them that had this character.

Since it's a special escaping character, it may be a bug introduced in one of the latest Garmin features introduced recently.
