Not working

I have a Garmin nuvi 1300 and it is out of the warranty period. I have search all over the Internet and I have read a bunch of the forums on here but I can't find anything.

I am running Windows 7 and this is the problem I am having.

The first time I plugged the Nuvi into the computer it actually connected and I accidently unplugged it and now it wont connect to the computer. So I tried downloading the USB drivers and the web update and the garmin connect thing where it tries to see what is connected and none of that is helping it connect to the computer. So then I tried switching the USB ports and nothing happens, windows doesnt even try to download and install the drivers like it did the first time.

The main reason I am trying to do this is because when I turn the Nuvi on sometimes it gets to where it is loading and there is a green bar and like 5% or so percent it just stops and freezes up. Other times it will say "Loading Maps" and freeze up there. Basically I can't get it to go beyond the loading screens.

I read on the Garmin website that in order to hard reset it, use your index finger or the eraser end of a pencil and press and hold the bottom right of the screen and then turn the Nuvi on and then let go of the power button but still hold the bottom right of the screen and a message should appear. But when I try this, sometimes the Garmin screen will appear and then 2 seconds later the screen goes black and other times the screen will turn white for 2 seconds and then the screen goes black. So not sure where to go here.

Other websites say that to do a soft reset, press and hold the power button for 2 to 3 minutes, but when I do this the Garmin screen will appear and it will either turn the screen black or the green loading bar will appear and freeze up at about 5% again. And it still doesn't help.

Getting it to get to the maps and freezing was the farthest progress I have gotten, and I have gotten it to say "Charging, press the power button to turn it on" and when I press the power button, one of the things I described earlier happens. So no progress at all really. And when I plug it into the car one of the things above will happen also.

Any help will really be appreciated.

I am having the same problem with a nuvi 855.

I accidently unplugged while updating and now I am having the same problem as you are except I can neither hard or soft restart. Were you able to solve the problem? If so, would you mind telling me how you did it?
