Etrex 10 software (?) problem

Former Member

I have just brought an etrex 10 to replace an earlier etrex. There appears to be a software problem in that when I try to edit a waypoint I do not get a Done option - all I get is Map and Go. Also when I select WGS 84 map format it keeps defaulting to degress and minutes. I have tried a reset and downloaded the lastest upgrades to no effect. Any ideas guys?
Cheers

  • Map datum and Position Format are 2 separate settings, what setting do you want instead of degrees and minutes, there are numerous options (on my 20 at least).

The 'Done' opton is available when you are editing part of the waypoint. Go to Waypoint Manager, select the waypoint you want to edit, highlight the field you want to edit and press the click stick (enter). You'll see 'Done' at the bottom of the screen.

    Trouble with Etrex 10

Thanks for your quick response and I apologise for the confusion. I should have said it was the Position Format. At the top I see hdd'mm etc and underneath there is the option I want, WGS 84. When I select that and then creat a waypoint it is in degrees and minutes etc. not the WGS format as with the old etrex. When I first used the unit this worked - now it does not.

With the second problem, as I stated, I do not get a Done option.

  • Doesn't sound as though it's working as it should, you might try a hard reset to see if that fixes the problem.

    etrex 10

Thanks Sussamb. What is a "hard reset"? I have tried a software update and a reset without success but am not aware of a hard reset. Is it a reload of the software from scratch and if so how?

I have logged this issue direct with Garmin but they take a week to respond and after two exchanges still do not appear to understand the problem.
    Cheers

  • Did you get this sorted in the end.

You're replying to a post that has been inactive for over 9 years ago. Likely the OP has moved on. Nonetheless, if you are having a problem with a Garmin eTrex device, there is no specific forum for this, so it is best to contact Garmin Support directly.
