Complete newbie having all kinds of problems. Data is not showing up on connect?

I'm a fairly technically savvy individual but i've been having nothing but trouble with my new 910xt (my first gps exercise device).

1) My local ANT agent says its uploading data to garmin connect, but i the website says it hasn't received anything yet. I've uploaded 2 data sets now over the past 3 days so it should have received something by now.

The website says:
"Garmin Connect hasn't received your data yet."

This is what the ANT agent says:
"Last transfer with device Forerunner 910XT on Jun 30, 2012 2:25 PM was successful. Activities were transferred to Garmin Connect, but download of Goals failed."

2) I can't figure out how the heartrate monitor is supposed to work. It never seems to get picked up by the watch. Is there a battery somewhere i'm missing?

Might be an idea to have a quick look at the manual.

Can you see your device from Garmin Connect?
Have you tried a manual upload from Garmin Connect?
What browser are you using? There are some security issues with newer version of Internet Explorer.
Have you paired your heart rate strap with your device?

I re-ran the setup wizard on the device and then it found the heart monitor.

As for the connectivity i think im' running into this known issue:

I'm going to try the troubleshooting steps there and see how it goes.

Hey Joel,

Not sure if you managed yet but I ran into the same issue. This is how I fixed it:
1. Download and install ANT Agent
2. Pair and upload your data ( I use the USB connector)
3. When you are in your garminconnect account there is an upload button right next to your sign in name in the top right hand corner; the first time you use it it will take you to a separate page for additional software (Garmin communicator plugin) to download that actually transfers the data you uploaded to Garminconnect.

After that you should be good. Just remember to hit the upload button every time you have completed a pairing session.

Oh and one more thing - for those of you who like me encountered numerous issues with the mac. If you have upgraded to the new OSX (mountain lion) you need to change your privacy settings in system preferences >> security & privacy >> general - and change the application download below to Anywhere.
